2.BOYS DORMITORY: It is our hopes that after the girls dormitory is fully operational our focus and energies can shift to the plans for the boys dormitory. Architectural plans had been done at the time of the girls dorm and a cost estimate was given at that time. The plans and the costs will have to be revisited at such a time as we were ready to proceed with the building. Funding is required before we can realize the dreams of building and furnishing the boys dormitory 3. KITCHEN/DINING HALL/STORAGE ROOM At this time a long standing mud hut building was converted to a kitchen to meet the needs of the daycare feeding program. It is our hope that this kitchen will be replaced with a newly built building that would house the kitchen, dining hall and storage room and would meet the needs in catering to both boys and girls in the orphanage.

OUR WISH: 1.GIRLS DORMITORY: In June 2004 we broke ground at the building site and started work on the girls dormitory. The building was completed in Oct 2004 at a cost of 1.9 million Kenyan Shillings. It can house up to 36 girls and a house parent on a full board basis, however it has yet to be fully furnished and as such is operating successful daycare programs only at this time. It also is used for various other community functions. HOW YOU CAN HELP: The following lists the items that are still required and an estimated cost to purchase them locally. Furnishings: 18 bunk (Decker) beds @ 4,000 per set 72,000 72 single size blankets (2 for each bed) @ 500 each 36,000 40 pairs of single size bed sheets @ 450 each 18,000 1 wall clock 1,200 Total in Kenyan Shillings: 127,200 *Please note that contributing to these funds partially can be done in such a way that could still have the dormitory functioning full board with fewer children*. For example the following could house 10 orphans: 5 bunk beds @ 4,000 per set 20,000 20 single size blankets (2 for each bed) @ 500 each 10,000 12 pairs of single size bed sheets @ 450 each 5,400 1 wall clock 1,200 Total in Kenyan Shillings: 36,600 2. Electricity: The power line has been extended into Dago Village from nearby Ranen Village however it requires a meter installation. HOW YOU CAN HELP: The cost of the connection fee and meter installation is 37,000 ksh. Further funding would be required to pay the monthly usage fees |
