                      DAGO AT A GLANCE

Dago Dala Hera Orphanage is a non-profit, non-political, non-religious and non-governmental organization, indigenously inspired and created, voluntary community organization.
It is situated in Western Kenya in Nyanza Province, Migori District, Awendo Division, Sakwa East Location, Kogelo East Sub-Location in Kaminasuo Village. It is about 50kms from the town of Kisii.
The community of Dago Village, affected by the global health challenges posed by HIV/AIDs, felt it necessary to look beyond their community resources for assistance. In 2002 we welcomed our first Peace Corp Volunteer (USA).
Through donations we have successfully constructed the girls dormitory that will eventually house up to 36 orphans, plus a house parent. Although some furnishings have been acquired, much is still needed in order for the facility to operate as a full board home. After realizing this task we will turn our focus on constructing and furnishing a boys dormitory as well as a building to house a kitchen and dining hall.
The orphanage is currently functioning as a daycare feeding program for primary school children during school days. This program began in 2005 and feeds 26 to 40 orphans, 2 meals a day for the 39 weeks the children attend school.

MISSION
Our mission is to reach out to orphaned children with unconditional love and provide them with their basic social, spiritual and physical needs that will assist them in living a meaningful life and grow to be contributing members of society. We believe in the dignity and uniqueness of each child as well as their God-given ability to be the best that they can be. Thus our focus is on providing a safe and nurturing environment that the orphans can call their home.
